Cutting the Cord

This week for Wireless Wednesday we wanted to take a deeper look into “cutting the cable cord.” With the recent announcement of Sling TV, HBO streaming and PlayStation Vue, plus our older alternatives like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, many are deciding that cable is no longer worth the money. If you’re still on the fence about cutting cable out of your monthly bills, here is a helpful calculator from Use the calculator to see if dropping cable TV and paying for your choice of streaming services will really save you money, and let us know in the comments section below!

Of course a simple calculator can’t tell what option is best for you as only monetary factors are considered. It’s important to note that cable TV and online streaming services are different products. Even if you were to subscribe to all the streaming services, you still wouldn’t get all of the channels and content that would be available to you via cable.

I recently changed my cable TV service so that my kids rooms no longer have cable TV. I put chromecast in to replace the cable TV as my kids can watch netflix, google play, and other shows via the internet. The money I saved from renting the cable boxes I used to upgrade the speed of the internet to my house. I am looking forward to see the money saving ideas.

Great idea! I love this a la carte way of thinking–plus who can argue with saving money? Win!

I haven’t had cable for over 2 years. We opted for streaming Netflix, Hulu and Vudu. We haven’t missed much because Vudu stores our movies, Hulu provides current shows and Netflix fills in the blanks by providing us with older seasons of some of our favorite shows. Win, Win for our family!

Cut the cord over 2 years ago and haven’t looked back. Streaming HD TV over the air, picking up all local TV stations and much better HD quality than cable or satellite! Sling TV gives me my sports fix with ESPN content and several other great channel additions, then added a Channel Master DVR+ with no monthly subscription, so I can record over the air TV shows when not able to view Live, plus the ability to replay Live TV when I want, this is Huge!
